Each time I visit one of my favorite locations, Fort Bragg on the northern coast of California just a few miles north of Mendocino I always have to drop in at Fiddles and Cameras to check on some interesting piano collection or wonderful string trio or quartet older publication find. I can only guess dozens of times through the years. I never could leave the area without dropping by and spending half an hour or so in this historical old building. It was the place I bought our son’s first 1/2 size violin incidentally. I was very choosy about the sound and found a real winner at Fiddles and Cameras. I put down a deposit and paid it off in another payment or two and had it mailed down for Christmas. But as good things come to an end Fiddles and Cameras closed their doors after 48 years of sheet music, musical equipment and lessons taught upstairs to the small community of Fort Bragg. I was to find out that both the husband and wife who owned it had died within the past few months.
But there’s still always something fun to do in Ft. Bragg. I enjoy the old stores, interesting dining locations in the same old buildings and famous Skunk Train depot. Here’s a few more fun pictures I thought to share since I’m free of gigs for a weekend or two, amazingly.
