Sometimes we get very fun assignments such as this waltzing instructional party. There was a dance instructor and his challenge was to teach 15 or so fathers how to dance with their daughters, and daughters to learn likewise. He started with the Viennese waltz style which looked challenging to me, not being a dancer, […]
Here’s a little group of some of my string students I put together to have a go at Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nacht Musik in my backyard. They did pretty well and we’ll perfect it for their student recital in the Spring. There’s actually a huge pond behind the performers and so we have fun music […]
So this is Charlie, a cousin of one of our members. He already loves playing the piano and performed his first piano duet, followed by a piano/violin duet. He doesn’t bang. He moves his fingers in sort of waves, both hands, so it was very clearly a real duet, no mistaking it, and big smile […]
I wish I’d gotten a picture of the front with its jovial flag lineup..next time! So we performed in the Crystal Room and later relocated to a hallway just outside their final reception destination to play for their cocktail time. An Elegant Touch of Strings can perform as a string quartet, string trio, string duo […]
We frequent the Brazilian Room venue. Every year it gets more and more beautiful! Here’s a couple of indoor shots after we performed for an outdoor ceremony, along with an outdoor view from the ceremony site. As you can see there was a lot of mist in the air and the rain to follow chased […]
I thought I’d posted this but can’t seem to find it. our string trio performed for a birthday party of a prominent citizen who happened to be brave enough to wear a big red suit. I really looked forward to this performance and wasn’t disappointed as the day was beautiful and fun. Santa Cruz boardwalk […]
This is actually an upscale clubhouse that holds weddings in their grassy lot. I liked the soft light that a late summer gave us here in Brentwood, CA.
Backyard weddings are always a very friendly occasion. The younger guests are often closer to us than they might be at a huge venue such as where we typically perform. It’s fun to see the interest they have in experiencing live strings so close-up.
One can never take too many pictures of this gorgeous venue in the mountains of Woodside. I rarely give credit for our photos however Janet Basta, one of our violinists, takes many, if not most. Honestly, I lost track of the photographer of this one…might even have been me or our violist Ginny Morgan. Nevertheless […]
We’re so very busy, every one of us. I always say it keeps us out of trouble! But once in awhile we get a little break. Here’s a rather successful baking endeavor I did a week or so ago- Italian bread! Super easy recipe and tastes so good that it’s difficult to buy bread after […]
